From a Modest Begining…
“Combined these business expand Tri-County Communications reach along the Southeast Texas border more broadly than any other communications company in the region”
Over the past 35 years, Tri-County Communications has been a force in the Rio Grande Valley, providing two-way area trucking radio service, equipment sales, tower and transmission solutions, and exceptional warranty work and repair services. As a Harris-Tait P-25 Dealer, Tri-County is recognized as a preferred provider and leader in technical services. While other companies have come and gone and languished, Tri-County has broadened its base through expansion of its Radio network and the establishment a full time full service shop that provide traditional communication support as well as design, sales, installation, and maintenance of public safety equipment to virtually every municipality in the Rio Grande Valley.
Prior to the sale of their 800 MHz system to Nextel in 1999, Tri-County sole business had been providing radio coverage in the Rio Grande Valley. After the sale, Tri-County Communications embarked on its current nine year journey to establish a presence in the Valley and beyond, of a company that would fully meet all the communications and service needs of the growing market.
These efforts included the development of a 450 MHz Trident PassPort radio network and purchasing a facility for retail and service in Weslaco. Today, Tri-County Communications has separate business units; Weslaco Sales and Service and Weslaco Radio Network. Combined, these business expand Tri-County Communications reach along the Southeast Texas border.
